There is no piece of home furniture that is quite as useful as versatile as the coffee table. As a champion of this adaptable living room piece, it bothers me that people don’t appreciate it more. One can only conclude that it is a serious lack of invention that would compel buyers to invest in this marvelous piece only to leave it passively collecting dust. I have therefore taken the liberty to suggest five ways for you, coffee table owner, to put yours to good use.
Coffee table/home gym
This one’s pretty obvious. Your coffee table can be used to do push ups and curls. If you’re not already doing this, chances are you’re probably pretty lazy in the first place.
Coffee table/bar
This is a great way to accessorize your living area and impress your guests. You just arrange all of your bottles on the coffee table and put a few bar accessories in the coffee table drawer. Very simple, very cool.
Coffee table/coffee grinder
This is a great way to use a coffee table if, like mine, it’s rock solid. You can smash coffee beans on the coffee table and then make the coffee that you’ll then drink at that same table.
Coffee table/trash heap
Styrofoam cups, old mail, general junk: you just let it pile up on your coffee table.
Coffee table/record player
I don’t remember exactly how we did it, but we did it. It worked. And believe me, if me and my roommates could figure this one out after a long night, than just about anyone could do it. And if memory serves, we even got it to work as a guitar amp when we ran out of records.
So anyway, those are just five alternative uses for the ever-popular and under-appreciated coffee table. There are countless others. One of these days maybe I’ll write a book. Until I do, tap into your imagination and be resourceful. Don’t let your perfectly good coffee table go to waste. Stay tuned for bedroom furniture and dining room furniture uses around the house!
