Armoires fall under the
category of more snooty furniture than some. For starters, there’s the name:
armoire. It just sounds snobbish and pretentious when you say it out loud. Then
there’s the fact that many armoires have a more dignified, traditional look to
them. However, despite these characteristics holding back the armoire’s
popularity, it’s an incredibly useful and handy piece of furniture to have in
your home.
For one thing, the armoire
is spacious. Those with master bedrooms, smaller living rooms, or looking for
an entertainment unit will be happily surprised to discover that the armoire is
perfect for storing a TV, your massive DVD collection, all your CDS, and still
have room to store away other electronic equipment and more. Most armories are
designed to act as a wardrobe, so if television isn’t your thing, you now have
a new closet to overstuff with shoes boxes and coats. And if you have a closet
and a stand for your TV already, an armoire just holds pretty much anything in
inside. With all the extra drawers and shelving space, it’s hard to think of
why this grand bedroom furniture piece is not a good idea. Like I said earlier,
it sounds stuck-up, but it’s actually very tolerant and welcoming.
Another thing that makes the
armoire so attractive is that it’s an anchored piece of furniture. This means
that instead of being moved around, its integrity last longer. This is turn
means that this is a piece of furniture you can pass on once you’re gone to
family. And since it already looks so distinguished, it will surely become an
heirloom those generations long after you will enjoy.
Keep in mind that armoires have doors that tend to swing wide, so put this piece somewhere that won’t interfere. Armoires with doors that slide are a good alternative if you have limited living space. Also, not all armoires are the same—some are built to specifically hold one type of item. Linens, jewelry, and other smaller personal effects are just some of the things that an armoire can hold besides a TV or a ton of clothes. In the end though, the armoire will help give any room in your home more space while providing an instant heirloom and a place to store all your belongings.
